The Castle Schochwitz , located in Schochwitz, Germany (17 km from Halle (Saale) was built in the 12th century. It nestled among the hills of the Saale-Unstrut area, the most northern wine region of Germany lies the little village of Schochwitz. The distance from Berlin to Schloss Schochwitz Castle is about 2 hours. There is a small village Schochwitz is located west of Halle (Saale) . Through the village flows the stream Laweke .
Castle Schochwitz is situated in midst beautiful nature, you can explore the forest by walk which located behind the castle. There is an old chapel hiding in middle of the hill, the chapel was a part of the castle before WWII. A vineyard producer (Weingut Höhnstedter vine producer) where travellers can taste local grown vine, located nearby the castle, it takes about 5 - 10 minute drive from Castle.
The Saxon countryside allows for scenic hiking and cycling. There is three lakes nearby, the first lake is located behind the castle. And the second is Lake Süßer See, 12 km away, they offer sailing opportunities, swimming pool and sauna. The last is Bindersee, a lake between the villages of Rollsdorf and Seeburg, in Landkreis Mansfeld-Südharz, Saxony-Anhalt. Travellers can easily be reached by train or bus (takes 50 min) from Halle(20km) and 30km from Leipzig.
